Joy's Confidence

Not only will you grow in knowledge of the Bible, you will also be given tools to help you flourish in your future ministry.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m Joy, I am an Ordinand in West London doing a Masters in Systematic Theology. Before starting to train I was working as a Student Pastor. I am half Spanish, half English and in my free time enjoy Salsa dancing.

What drew you to study at St Mellitus College?

I liked the idea of being context based so I could practically experience local church ministry whilst completing my studies. I also valued the wide level of presentation at St Mellitus College of the expressions held within the Church of England.

Why did you choose to train for ordination at St Mellitus College?

The teaching you receive comes from lecturers who don’t just equip you on an academic level but also inspire you to go deeper in your faith. Not only will you grow in knowledge of the Bible, you will also be given tools to help you flourish in your future ministry.

How would you describe your time at St Mellitus College?

The lectures we have had so far have been extremely thought provoking and I feel
a sense of privilege to be given this time to deepen my understanding of scripture. I also feel that the chapel services have already started to broaden my understanding of worship by challenging me to try new things.

How has training impacted your ministry now?

I am finding that training is already helping me grow in confidence through the input, feedback and space given to me as I step into trying new things. The college have been very good at equally supporting me in both my studies and church placement.
