The Dean of Ministry has a particular focus on the ministerial and formational life of the College. Sharon’s role has national oversight to equip women and men to be confident disciples with a love for Jesus Christ to impact a generation.
The Revd Canon Dr Sharon Prentis is Intercultural Mission Enabler & Dean of Black, Asian & Minority Ethnic Affairs for the Church of England in Birmingham, a member of Birmingham Cathedral Chapter and Canon theologian at Lichfield Cathedral. Prior to moving to Birmingham, Sharon was Beginning Theology Coordinator at St Mellitus College. She has been Deputy Director for Research & Development at The Salvation Army and a Director of a faith-based organisation where she helped set up a social enterprise. After gaining degrees in social sciences, anthropology and theology her research and teaching has predominately been in community and education contexts. Sharon is a member of the Faith and Order Commission, a Reference Council Member for Kyria, and Honorary Fellow for the Edward Cadbury Centre at the University of Birmingham. In 2019 Revd Dr Prentis published her first book, Every Tribe: Stories of Diverse Saints Serving a Diverse World, a celebration of the true diversity of the saints.
