Dr Steve Smith is the Head of Teaching and Learning, Tutor and Lecturer in New Testament Studies at St Mellitus College. After working as a hospital doctor for several years he studied theology at London School of Theology. His PhD has been published as ‘The Fate of the Jerusalem Temple in Luke Acts: an Intertextual Approach to Jesus’ Laments over Jerusalem and Stephen’s Speech’ (T&T Clark 2017). He continues to pursue academic interests in Luke-Acts, the use of the Old Testament in New Testament, and relevance theory in biblical interpretation. Steve has taught Biblical Studies at the University of Chichester, and is one of the leaders of a House Church congregation in South East London where he also serves on their training team. He is married to Suman and they have one daughter.
