This morning it has been announced that the Rt Revd Dr Graham Tomlin, currently Bishop of Kensington in the Diocese of London, has been appointed as the McDonald Agape Director of the new Centre for Cultural Witness, based at Lambeth Palace. Bishop Graham will continue to serve as President of St Mellitus College and Chair of the Board of Trustees.
As
Director of the new Centre, Bishop Graham will head up this exciting new
initiative to help develop and expand the Church’s public witness. It will
explore how the Church can better explain and share with others its profound
and transforming story, through a major magazine website, a learning, and
training programme for senior church leaders and emerging communicators, and through
theological research into the task of Cultural Witness in the present day
Revd Russell Winfield (Dean of St Mellitus College) says:
“On behalf of the St Mellitus College community, we want to congratulate Bishop Graham. This is a wonderful opportunity, and we are excited for all that he will bring to the role and to the wider Anglican Communion through this appointment. We are delighted that he will continue to serve as President of the College and Chair of our Board of Trustees and are grateful to benefit from his leadership and wisdom.”
Rt Revd Dr Graham Tomlin says:
“We have a remarkable story in the Christian faith that has shaped cultures over centuries in profound ways. Yet we need to find fresh ways to communicate that faith so that others can understand and believe it today. I am excited for the opportunities which this initiative brings and the possibilities that lie ahead. St Mellitus College has been at the forefront of training people to share this story in its remarkable journey of growth over the past 15 years, and so I am delighted to be able to continue as President of St Mellitus College and Chair of the Board of Trustees.”
Bishop Graham will take up his new role in September 2022.
