We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to St Mellitus College.
As part of your induction, we will be gathering all new students from across our teaching centres for a National Launch Evening online on Thursday, 4th of September. This is an opportunity to meet as a national college community and hear more about what to expect and how Jesus shapes our life together. Spouses & key supporters are also warmly welcome to join.
For information about Local Induction Day please click here.
Next week is induction week. Each Centre (London Monday, East Midlands and South West, London Tuesday) will gather in-person. For those in London we are aware that a tube strike is planned for the entire week.
We are definitely going ahead in-person on London Monday for those studying full time, and we will send some helpful information about travel in advance: we would encourage you to be at your Centre to learn about the year ahead and the specifics of your pathway, but provision will be made for those that cannot attend.
We are planning to go ahead in-person on London Tuesday evening for those studying part time: again, we would encourage you to be at your Centre to learn about the year ahead and the specifics of your pathway. However, we will monitor the situation closely over the weekend and on Monday an email will be sent to London Tuesday students with a final decision, including if it appears unfeasible to meet in-person what alternative provision will be made.
Please find the timings and details of the evening below, including relevant zoom links.

East Midlands: Phoebe Chevassut
South West: Louis Winstone
In the first instance, please contact the academic admin team at academicadmin@stmellitus.ac.uk with details of what the problem seems to be (as much detail as possible!). They will either be able to help you or put you in touch with the IT department.
Microsoft Office applications are provided as Online-only versions with your student account and are fully functioning applications based in a browser.
The September residential weekend and the Residential week (November), will take place at The Hayes Conference Centre, DE55 1AU. The nearest train stations are Alfreton or Derby and there is plenty of parking at the centre, too.
The November residential weekend will take place online.
Our January, February and June residentials will take pace at High Leigh Conference Centre, EN11 8SG. The nearest train station is Broxbourne and there is a regular service from London Liverpool Street, which also connects with the Underground Victoria Line at Seven Sisters or Tottenham Hale. There is plenty of parking at the centre, too.
You will receive an email roughly two weeks prior to the residential taking place with all the details of the weekend. Generally speaking, a residential weekend will begin at 5pm, with arrivals from 3.30pm and finish by 1pm. For new students there will be an introduction to residentials at the September weekend 4.15pm. The residential week has arrivals from 3pm, with the programme beginning at 3.45pm, and finishes at 1.45pm.
Residentials take place with ordinands students from across all centres, with students sharing rooms with another student- normally from within your centre/formation group. Our Elizabeth stream students also join us for our September and June residentials.
You will have a desk or table to sit at in all of your lectures, so it’s up to you if you would like to bring a laptop or pen & paper for note taking, or just listen!
Ordinand retreats will be taking place the weekend of 20th – 22nd March 2026. We will send out a retreat booklet which has details of all the different retreat options for you to attend around December 2025. You will fill in a form to indicate your preferences and these will be allocated with the aim that no one receives below their 3rd choice. The retreat options offer a range of styles of worship & retreat, at centres in various locations around the country and with different people leading at each.
Please note: only first year Ordinands attend retreats.
Yes, we have points in all our teaching rooms for your computers and mobile devices should you need to charge them. If you're bringing a computer or tablet to take notes in lectures, please try and make sure it's fully charged before you arrive at college.
Please let your centre coordinator know if you have a dietary requirement or allergy that we should be made aware of. There will be different points where you will be asked for these again e.g. when attending a residential, retreat or other event. Please don’t assume we already know!
Your formation tutor is the best person to speak to about your pathway. You should be able to find information about your pathway on Moodle in the programmes section of the handbook.
If you have non-academic questions about your pathway such as, “what modules I am doing this year?” you can email Narges Bagherabadi, but for any academic-related questions, please speak to your formation tutor.
*Details are given in the induction session in October
For any Moodle-related problems, please email Narges Bagherabadi
For the London Centre, please fill in this form and a member of the team will be able to resolve this issue.
