Tutor and Lecturer in Doctrine and Ethics

This post offers opportunities both for teaching and assessment of students, as well as vital formational and pastoral work with them, in one of the most exciting theological institutions in the UK.

 

KEY TASKS

Teaching & Learning 

  • Teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at SMC’s various venues including daytime, evening, teaching weeks and residential sessions (allocation based on subject specialism and fte).
  • Assessing student work through first marking and moderation (allocation based on fte)

Formation 

  • Acting as Formation Group Tutor to designated students, including: proactive engagement in the students’ formational development and preparation for ministry, being the first point of contact for academic, formational and pastoral support, leading formation group sessions, and conducting regular 1- 1 tutorials.
    • If a tutor for ordinands, act as point of contact with placement context, including conducting annual placement visits, and writing annual Bishop’s Report.

Please note: The applications will close at 5pm on 2nd December 2025. The selection process will include two interview stages. The first-stage interview will be held online on 5 December, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person second-stage interview on 10 December.

Salary

£41,000-£46,000 pro-rata depending on experience and includes London Weighting
